The Powhatan Point Revitalization Association (PPRA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, open to anyone wishing to participate in the revitalization of the Powhatan Point community area. The PPRA is managed and directed by a volunteer team of residents, business leaders and alumni of Powhatan. The team adheres to the review and
recommendations of the Town of Powhatan Point Mayor and Town Council (the “Council”), taxpayers, residents, property owners, and businesses of the community.
The organization’s basic goals and objectives are described below:
(a) To promote Powhatan Point, Ohio as a destination community, that would identify with vacation/
conference resort having recreational facilities, unique cultural arts products retail/museums/river walk, and get-away/time-share retirement housing supported by hotel/condo development;
(b) To preserve and reuse the Powhatan High School as a community-centered facility serving:
(1)the area as a luxury hotel/conference/banquet center
(2)as a family restaurant
(3)as a child/youth/senior care center
(4)the residents physical fitness/rehabilitation needs
(5)as a cinema performing and fine arts center
(6) the Powhatan Historical Society Museum
(7) as PPRA, retail and professional offices
(c) To preserve and enhance the tax base of Powhatan Point, Ohio;
(d) To promote, attract, stimulate, rehabilitate, and revitalize commerce, professional office, residential and natural resources in Powhatan;
(e) To stimulate the flow of private investment funds from banks, investment houses, insurers, government grants, bonds, or loans and other financial institutions for Powhatan;
(f) To promote gainful employment/business opportunities for the inhabitants of Powhatan;
(g) To enhance/maintain the historical and heritage aspects of the town natural resources as historic
site/museum, riverfront access, public park and recreational areas for public use;
(h) To enhance downtown sidewalks, river boardwalks/roads, parking and economic climate that will
encourage and attract commerce, professional office and residential development; and
(i) To do all things necessary to improve the social, economic and business welfare of Powhatan.
